Egg Curry

 

Egg Curry / Varutharacha Mutta Gravy is perfect side-dish for Rice and Dosa. If you wanna cover both lunch and dinner, you can prepare in the afternoon for lunch and serve for dinner as well for dosa/idly. Hard-boiled eggs contain good fats called monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. It contains high protein and helps to build muscle mass. We have used small onions to add more flavour to this dish.

Egg Curry Recipe / Varutharacha Mutta Gravy / Egg Gravy Recipe preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.

Ingredients
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Boiled egg -6
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • For Masala
  • Shallots (small onion)- 1/2 cup
  • Tomato - 1 chopped
  • Cloves (Karampu/Lavang) - 2
  • Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini) - 1/2 inch
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Fennel(Sombu/Saunf) - 1 tsp
  • Pepper (Milagu/Kali mirch)- 1/2 tsp
  • Curryleaves - few
  • Garlic - 6 pearls
  • Coconut - 1/4th cup
Directions
  • Step 1 Take a pan and add oil.
  • Step 2 Add Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini)
  • Step 3 Add Cloves (Karampu/Lavang)
  • Step 4 Add red chilli and saute it well.
  • Step 5 Add Fennel(Sombu/Saunf)
  • Step 6 Add jeera
  • Step 7 Add Pepper (Milagu/Kali Mirch) and saute it well
  • Step 8 Add coriander powder and saute it well in low flame. Keep it aside
  • Step 9 Add oil and small onions. Saute it well
  • Step 10 Add garlic
  • Step 11 Add curry leaves and saute it well.
  • Step 12 Add chopped tomato and saute it well.
  • Step 13 Add grated coconut and saute it well.
  • Step 14 Once it’s Cooldown, transfer to the mixer.
  • Step 15 Grind it to smooth paste.
  • Step 16 Heat a pan and add oil.
  • Step 17 Add mustard seeds and let it splutter
  • Step 18 Add onion and saute it well
  • Step 19 Add curry leaves. Saute it well
  • Step 20 Add the prepared masala paste and saute it well
  • Step 21 Add required water and mix it well
  • Step 22 Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well
  • Step 23 Cook it for 15 minutes.
  • Step 24 Add boiled egg and mix it well. cook for 5 minutes
  • Step 25 Add coriander leaves and mix it well
  • Step 26 Serve it with Rice or dosa /idly.

8. Add coriander powder and saute it well in low flame. Keep it aside

9. Add oil and small onions. Saute it well

10.Add garlic

11. Add curry leaves and saute it well.

12. Add chopped tomato and saute it well.

13. Add grated coconut and saute it well.

14. Once it’s Cooldown, transfer to the mixer.

15. Grind it to smooth paste.

16. Heat a pan and add oil.

17. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter

18. Add onion and saute it well

19. Add curry leaves. Saute it well

20. Add the prepared masala paste and saute it well

21. Add required water and mix it well

22. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well

23. Cook it for 15 minutes.

24. Add boiled egg and mix it well. cook for 5 minutes

26. Serve it with Rice or dosa /idly.
