Senai kizhangu poriyal Recipe | Elephant foot yam stir-fry Recipe preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.

Ingredients
  • Senaikizhangu - 1/2 kg
  • Small onion - 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli -2
  • Green chilli-2
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini) - 1/2 inch
  • Cloves (Karampu/Lavang) - 2
  • Crushed Ginger Garlic - 1 tbsp
  • Mutton Masala Powder- 1 tbsp
  • Coconut - 1/4 th cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
Directions
  • Step 1 Cut black outer layer (skin) of Senai kizhangu/yam. Wash & cut into small cubes. Take a bowl to add water, turmeric powder, tamarind, salt and mix it well. Add cubed Senai kizhangu and cook it for 10 min. Keep it aside.
  • Step 2 Take a pan with larger bottom and heat oil in it.
  • Step 3 Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  • Step 4 Add cinnamon
  • Step 5 Add cloves
  • Step 6 Add red chilli, green chilli and saute it well
  • Step 7 Add small onion and saute it well until onions become transparent.
  • Step 8 Add curry leaves and saute it well
  • Step 9 Add crushed garlic ginger and saute it well
  • Step 10 Add salt to taste
  • Step 11 Add mutton masala powder and saute it well.
  • Step 12 Add cooked Senai kizhangu and saute for 3 mins
  • Step 13 Add coconut and saute it for a min.
  • Step 14 serve hot with rice.

Making of Senai Kizhangu Poriyal Recipe | Elephant Foot Yam Stir-Fry Recipe:

 

Cut black outer layer (skin) of Senai kizhangu/yam. Wash & cut into small cubes. Take a bowl to add water, turmeric powder, tamarind, salt and mix it well. Add cubed senai kizhangu and cook it for 10 min. Keep it aside.

12. Add coconut and saute it for a minute.
