I don’t make this recipe frequently but when I make rich Punjabi dishes, I end up making naans. These soft naans are made on the stovetop or Tawa/griddle. Authentic Butter Naan Recipe | Soft & Fluffy | Homemade Naan preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.

Ingredients
  • Maida (plain flour/all-purpose flour) - 2 ½ Cup
  • Salt -to taste
  • Baking powder- ½ tsp
  • Baking soda -½ tsp
  • Yogurt/Curd - ¼ cup
  • Milk - ½ Cup
  • Sugar -1 tsp
  • Oil -1 tbsp
  • Water -2 tsp
  • Butter -2 tsp
Directions
  • Step 1 Take a mixing bowl and add maida
  • Step 2 Add baking soda
  • Step 3 Add baking powder
  • Step 4 add salt to taste
  • Step 5 Add sugar
  • Step 6 Add curd /yogurt and mix it well
  • Step 7 Add milk and knead it well
  • Step 8 Add water and knead 10minutes and make a soft and smooth dough
  • Step 9 Tuck the dough and form to a ball. Place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 10 Apply the oil generously.
  • Step 11 Cover it with a cling wrap and set aside about for 2 hours
  • Step 12 Knead the dough for 5 mins
  • Step 13 Take a small ball sized dough and tuck to make a ball .
  • Step 14 Add the dough into the dusted surface and roll it in an oval shape
  • Step 15 Place the naan on a hot Tawa or griddle.
  • Step 16 When the bottom is partly cooked, flip. You will see bubbles on the naan.
  • Step 17 When the second side is cooked, remove the naan with a pair of tongs and place the side which was cooked first facing the fire.
  • Step 18 The naan will puff up. Flip and brown the naan.
  • Step 19 Spread some butter on top.
  • Step 20 Serve butter naan hot with your favorite curry like paneer butter masala.

6. Add curd /yogurt and mix it well

9. Tuck the dough and form to a ball. Place in a large mixing bowl

10. Apply the oil generously.

11. Cover it with a cling wrap and set aside about for 2 hours

13. Take a small ball sized dough and tuck to make a ball.
