Rava appam recipe | Instant suji appam with spicy chutney

Rava appam

Rava appam recipe | Instant suji appam with spicy chutney preparation with step by step photos and a quick video. Rava appam is an instant breakfast recipe made with semolina, poha, and sour curd. The beauty of this recipe is you no need to soak, fermentate it. Which means, this batter can be quickly prepared in less than 15mins. I have used baking soda for the fermentation process but you could also use Eno fruit salt or instant dry yeast. Sour curd and baking soda make a batter with a porous and soft texture. Always use Bombay Rava (upma) for this recipe. Ensure that the batter consistency has to be slightly thin and watery to make super soft appam. Rava appam’s tastes too good with spicy chutney.

I have also included a spicy chutney recipe in this post. I am addicted to this chutney from childhood and it’s my mom’s special. This chutney goes very well with dosa, idli, and appams. For better taste, I would recommend using small onions. The ingredients of this recipe itself will tempt you to make it. Yes. It has a mix of small onions, tamarind, garlic, red chillis, and tomato. Don’t miss to try out this recipe.
